The “Carrington Event” was massive solar electrical storm that hit the earth Sept 01, 1859. It destroyed much of the high tech of the day, telegraph lines. There were many reports of the telegraph lines in the us on fire. Telegraph lines are more robust and able to withstand such electrical storms than our current technology including computers and cell phones.

If we had such an event today one could assume much of our electronic devices from cars to refrigerators etc would cease to function. We could literally be knock back to the stone age.

A perusal of historic writings and reports indicate these events can occur more frequently than every 100 years, more frequently than “The big one” earthquake that is expected to hit North America sometime. We prepare for a “big one event” with drills and earthquake preparedness kits etc. Why are we not preparing for “The Big Solar Flare”? If such an event were to occur what would it do to those with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity? When a moderately large solar flare hit eastern North America known as the Quebec Blackout in 1989 the much of the eastern seaboard was off the electrical grid, are we prepared for an event of even that size?
