Tory critics questioned why ministers had 'ignored' the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) - the independent body advising the Government on vaccine policy - by pushing ahead with the 'draconian' policy. Bolton West MP Chris Green said introducing the measure alongside compulsory vaccinations for care workers and domestic vaccine passports in Scotland and Wales did not make sense at a time when Britain was 'through the worst of the pandemic'. And others questioned how teenagers would be able to make informed decisions on whether they would accept the jab - which do not require parental consent.
