A waterspout, which turned into a tornado, hit Pinamar beach in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
The whirlwind tore roofs, beach elements and laid down many trees.
Flooding also occurred in the streets crossed, most often near the beach.
Dozens of police officers had to be evacuated and numerous power cuts occurred.
