-- and then asked to come back!
So, I went to the local grocery store, as I'd done many times prior, bare-faced. I actually have a medical/post-surgical disability, which does prevent my wearing a mask, ever, of any sort. But, I didn't like using this, "excuse", as I think everyone has a medical issue with masks. Everyone needs to breathe. But, when grocery stores came together and said they would start requiring face coverings, in Austin, and i saw people donning any sort of paper or tissue or anything, at all, and knew how ridiculous they were being, I knew, too, I had this disability in my arsenal. When I was stalked and confronted about not covering my face, I let this on-floor manager know, she was wrong and I had read the, "mandate" (read, guidelines.) These guidelines specifically state, "people should wear a face covering... with exceptions.. including those for whom doing so will further medical disabilities, according to ADA. HIPPA laws are in effect and, so, no disabled person can be questioned about the specifics of his or her disability." However, this silly chippie actually believes or believed that this was law! I don't know who she thinks wrote the law, and voted on the law, and enacted the law, but she thought it law.
I knew better. So, I shot video of the encounter, and sent a copy to national headquarters, Randall's Stores.
Later that day, one of the big bosses call me, profusely apologized, and asked what they could do to get me to return.
Allow me to shop in peace. They actually had a meeting, the day prior to this, and all were advised to never do what was done to me. I am yet to return to the store (it has almost been a week), but I believe I will do so. I just haven't needed to buy groceries. When I do, I will shoot a video follow-up, to be sure!
People are so willing to comply with what is a terrible lie, and a scam, a fraud, that they risk alienating the majority of society. If not covering my face alienates them, well, good.
