WTC 7 was replaced by a new 52 floor tower known as 7 World trade center tower. The milestones for the tight replacement programme from one who ought to know, were as follows:
- April 2000: First design meeting after deciding to "get on with it":
- September 2001: "Pullit" (Demolition)
- May 2002: Construction begins-
- May 2006: Building completed
Of course, demolition of WTC 7 was a necessary prelude to construction of the replacement building. Planning for controlled demolition would be a critical part of this. If we presume that the building was wired, ready to go on 911, the last piece of the jigsaw falls into place.
