Darren Gregory a court action against WorksafeBC under Section 7 of the Canadian Rights and Freedoms.

Section 7 is about life and securing freedom of our lives and freedoms. The loss of these rights negatively impacts many workers in British Columbia and across Canada. In 2010 Canada ratified the UN convention on the rights of the persons with disabilities but have failed to implement the articles of the convention into Canadian Laws and Policies. We have all felt abused by the WorksafeBC process as we sought compensation and support for our respective workplace injuries and illnesses. Some have felt abused to the extent they have taken their own lives. Darren believes our lives, our freedoms and our security of person is being denied injured workers by virtue of the fact that our compensation laws virtually legalise the system to carry out acts of structural violence against injured workers seeking compensation for their workplace caused injury.

Darren comes from the ranks of First Responders in Canada his injury is a traumatic stress injury an injury that numerous paramedics have. The language in the WCB laws provide a way for Workssafe to circumvent the prevision of Section 7
