An excerpt from Oliver Stone's brilliant 2012 documentary series, "The Untold History of the United States".

Major General Smedley Darlington Butler was, at the time of his death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history.
He fought in the Philippine–American War, the Boxer Rebellion, the Mexican Revolution, World War I, in Central America & the Caribbean.

In 1933, he foiled a fascist military coup orchestrated by Wall Street & a group of wealthy industrialists planning to overthrow President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

In 1935, Butler wrote a book titled "War Is a Racket", where he describes and criticizes the workings of the United States in its foreign actions and wars, including the American corporations and other imperialist motivations behind them.

"pacifists? Hell, I'm a pacifist, but I always have a club behind my back."
Maj-Gen Smedley Butler.
