Nearly 20,000 people have been forced out of their homes on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent after the La Soufriere volcano erupted for the first time in more than 40 years. The volcano has had six eruptions — in 1718, 1812, 1814, 1902/03, 1979, and 2021.
Only people who are vaccinated can evacuate on cruise ships as the La Soufriere volcano on the eastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent erupted on Friday.
